Round de Banana Plantation Well went on a tour of our friends banana plantation who lives just a couple of kilometres outside Coffs Harbour. We've never seen so many of the things! Here are our children rapidly following their children who took them on their own guided tour - I don't know where they went but there was a lot of whooping and laughing!
We had a walk inside the plantation ...where you could see the bananas growing in bags. The bags are there partly for protection from the direct rays of the sun which discolours them; and partly to increase the humidity around them, which de bananas apparently like. Lady finger bananas close up - these fell before being allowed to ripen. more fingers... The banana bunches weigh 25kg and the bunches are usually carried 2 at a time. Phew ! |
